1. vAsugupta (~860–925 C.E.)is said to have discovered Shiva-sutra and conceived the spanda principle
2. kallATa bhaTTa, his disciple developed the spanda principle and composed spandakArikA
3. somAnanda (~875–925 CE) arranged the existing shaiva doctrines in a systematic manner in shivadRRiShTi
4. utpaladeva his disciple further refined somAnanda's doctrine in lshvarapratyAbhiGYa, Ishvarasiddhi and sambandhasiddhi (#)
5. abhinavagupta (~950 - 1020 C.E), the disciple of utpaladeva, organized all existing knowledge in tantrAloka and it's synopsis the tantrasAra.
